Obituary

Angelica Hinojosa went to be with our Lord on Monday, May 27, 2024. She was born on December 11, 1960, in Laredo, Texas, to Antonio and Zulema Peña. Our beloved mother was a loving wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and faith will live forever in our hearts.

Angelica’s impact extended beyond her family and friends. She graduated from Martin High School, where she showcased her musical talent by playing the trumpet for “La Banda del Animo.” She then furthered her education by attending Laredo College, where she was pursuing a degree in child development. Her professional journey was equally remarkable. For 15 years, she dedicated herself to the Laredo Border Region, where her compassion and support were the hallmarks of her career. Her passion, dedication, and altruism broke down barriers and improved the lives of the countless people she encountered.

Angelica’s presence was a source of joy wherever she went. Her smile had the power to light up an entire room. She cherished her time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Zulema Peña, and brothers, Antonio Peña Jr. and Sergio Peña.

Those left behind to keep her memory alive are her husband, Rafael Hinojosa; daughter Jessica (Pedro) Arizpe; sons Rafael D. (Brittany) Hinojosa and Andres (Jennifer) Hinojosa; sisters Geraldine (Juan) Botello and Elizabeth (Jose) Gonzalez; sister-in-law Ruby (Ruben) Aguirre, Gloria Perez, Evelyn Zuniga; David (Sally) Hinojosa. Grandchildren Victoria Arizpe, Daphne Hinojosa, Alyssa Arizpe, Rebekah Hinojosa, Hannah Arizpe, Lucas Hinojosa, Audrey Hinojosa.
