Angela S. Peña, 79, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 26, 2019 and was reunited with her parents, Guadalupe and Maria Sanchez, her sister, Margarita Sanchez and her brother, Roberto Sanchez.
“Angie” as she was known as by all of her family was born in Laredo, Texas on August 2, 1939. She graduated from Martin High School and obtained a Nurse Aide certificate from Laredo Junior College. After college, she started her career at the Laredo Health Department with Project Hope as a Nurse Aide as well as at the Laredo Job Corp. After living and working in Laredo she moved to Chicago, Illinois and worked there for a couple of years before moving back to Laredo for the rest of her life. Angie was known for her crafting of arrangements for any holiday and when you would visit her house it would be full of crafting materials for the many projects she would take on. Angie was a strong independent woman who raised her three children on her own. She would do anything for her three children and for the rest of her family. When her grandchildren would come over she would always have a fridge stocked with Brisk Tea and Sprite. She would never let you leave her house without having something to eat. Angie loved going to church and reading her bible on her comfortable recliner. She encouraged all of our family to be united and to love one another and made sure to tell us to always be a united family even after she left to her heavenly kingdom.
She is survived by her sister, Minerva Serrato (Toño), her sons, Servando Rodriguez (Irene), Jose Rodriguez Jr. (Nora); and her daughter, Idalia Rodriguez; grandchildren, Rogelio Elizondo Jr. (Jessica), Jimmy Russell Elizondo (Sasha), Christopher Elizondo (Annalysa), Jose “Joey” Emmanuel Rodriguez, Monica Elizondo (Michael), Jessica Ann Rodriguez (Mike), Jennifer Nicole Rodriguez (Joshua), Joann Lizette Rodriguez, Jose Luis Alvarez Jr. (Paulita) and Julie Hernandez (Leo); great-Grandchildren, Zoie, Faryha, Jordan, Angelina and Conor.
