Alma Letty Santos was called home by the Lord on the morning of Friday, January 14, 2022, surrounded by her most loved ones.

Mrs. Letty Santos, 55, was born in Laredo, Texas on January 27, 1966, where she was a lifelong resident. She is preceded in death by her mother, Zulema G. Carreon, her father, Felix Carreon, and her brother Octavio Carreon.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband Joel Santos, her son Joey Lee Santos, her daughter Melissa Lynn (Antonio “Tony”) Hurtado, her joy, her grandson Antonio “Tony” Hurtado, Jr. and she anxiously awaited the arrival of her grandson Gael Hurtado.

Left to also cherish her memory are her siblings, Angelica (Tomas) Vela, Elsa (Juan+) Martinez, Amy (Arnoldo) Sarli, Felix (Rebecca) Carreon Jr., Oscar (Sarah+) Carreon, and numerous relatives and friends.

A sociable leader, inspirational community mentor, and business owner, Letty has always embodied joy and vitality. In 2007, she took a leap of faith, and with her amazing wisdom and the help of her husband and family, she opened South Texas Credit Advisors, now known as STXCA Credit & Financial Services. Her passion for financial management drew her into educating others in financial literacy and credit consumer law. With dedication and perseverance, Letty successfully dominated the credit industry operating her own small business and becoming one of the most successful credit repair companies not only in South Texas, but in the nation. Her daily mission from then has been to educate the community in financial literacy, credit education, and personal finances one success story at a time. Letty was an active member with the Laredo Chamber of Commerce and the Laredo Builders Association. She enjoyed serving her community by assisting many realtors, builders and lenders qualify their clients for home approvals. For the past 4 years, she has been a volunteer with Texas A&M International University in The Small Business Development Center where she taught a class on Credit & Budgeting. Over the years Letty has received numerous recognitions from the community and in 2020, she was awarded the Financial Services Champion of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration, an award that she so much accepted with humbleness and enthusiasm. Letty Santos left a legacy to all the people she touched, and her greatest desire was to keep that legacy moving forward.

Letty will always be remembered by her contagious glowing smile and way of uplifting others. She used her enthusiastic personality to always educate and make things happen in the Laredo community. If there was one thing Letty was, that was determination with Faith in God no matter what the challenge or request was, she gave it her all to ensure she exceeded all expectations whether for herself or others.
