Adela (Tita) Mendoza Snyder, a beloved educator and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the age of 79. A lifelong Laredoan, she was born on March 30, 1945.
After graduating from Raymond & Tirza Martin High School in 1964, Adela pursued her passion for education at Texas A&I Kingsville, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She dedicated her 30-year career to inspiring young minds at Laredo Independent School District, teaching Spanish at both J.W. Nixon and L.J. Christen.
Beyond the classroom, Adela was a woman of many interests. She found joy in immersing herself in the pages of novels, strumming her guitar, capturing moments through photography, and losing herself in the melodies of music. She shared a special bond with her sister, Clara, helping her create albums filled with precious family memories. Together, they delighted in classic films on TCM and cherished quality time with loved ones. Her greatest source of pride and joy was her son, John Snyder III.
Adela was preceded in death by her parents, Pioquinto P. and Clara Alardin Mendoza, her brothers, Pioquinto Mendoza Jr. and Albert Mendoza, and her sister, Clara Mendoza de Llano. She is survived by her son, John Snyder III, her sister-in-law, Veronica Mendoza, and by nieces Melissa (Andrew Deponai) Mendoza, Christina Mendoza, Valerie Varona, Sandra (Edward) Maher, and nephews, Albert (Kristy) Mendoza and Pioquinto Mendoza, III. Additionally, she is survived by five great nieces and four great nephews.
