Captain Francisco H. Martinez, Sr., 95, entered into eternal rest on, Monday, September 19, 2022.
Francisco proudly served in the U.S. Army in World War II, eventually retiring as a captain from the Laredo Fire Department after 32 years of service. He will be greatly missed and forever cherished by his loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margarita P. Martinez; daughter, Mary Arleen Martinez who will now be laid to rest with him; siblings, Dora, Amada, Maria, Rodolfo, Felipe, Raul, Ludivico, and Mario Martinez.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Francisco (Sandra) Martinez, Jr., Carlos R. (Gina) Martinez, Araceli M. (Santiago) York, Roberto J. Martinez, Joe E. Martinez, Roy (Maria) Martinez, George (+Dhalia) Martinez, David I. (Alicia) Martinez, Amelda M. (Alfonso) Gonzalez, Frances J. (Arturo Estevis) Martinez; 29 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers; Lydia, Flor, Mari, and Martha.
The family will be receiving guests on Thursday, September 22, 2022, in the Angelus chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 555 E Del Mar Blvd, Laredo, TX 78041. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery where Military Honors will be provided by the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard and Presentation of the U.S. Flag will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Martinez, Jimmy York, Jorge A. Garza, Jr., Roberto Martinez, Jr., Lucas Francisco Cruz, David Martinez, Jr., Joseph Gonzalez, and Alexia Gonzalez; Honorary Pallbearers are Aleah Gonzalez, Jaxson Gonzales, Aria Gonzalez, Joseph G. Gonzalez, Jr., Jesus A. Garza, Christina Gonzalez, Arleen Gillett, and Joe Martinez, Jr.

Papi I miss you so much that I’m heart broken. Although it’s hard for me to accept, I know it was your time to go. I want to Thank you for all the wonderful memories that you left me and my children with, we will definitely carry them in our hearts forever. Thank you for being an Awesome and Amazing father as well as an EXCELLENT Grandfather to my children. They love you and miss you so much. Thank you for the wonderful care you gave each and every one of your 11 children and Our Beautiful mother. You were definitely the best father one could ever have. You know that I took care of you the best way possible. In the last few days I know I begged you not to leave me but I know it was your time to go join mom and Arleen in Heaven. I want you to know that I and all your family will greatly miss you but we will be fine. We will carry on your legacy. As sad as it was you had a beautiful funeral. You were honored by the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard as well as by your brothers at the Laredo Fire Department. I will forever miss you. I LOVE YOU PAPI. Tell Mami and Arleen that we are all fine.
